SEX JAMS ist eine Noise/Indie Rock Band aus Wien. Gegründet im Sommer 2008, besteht das aktuelle Lineup aus Katarina Trenk (vocals), Rudi Braitenthaller (drums), Florian Seyser (bass) und Lukas Bauer (guitar). Der Bandname ist einerseits als Referenz an die amerikanische Band MILEMARKER zu verstehen, andererseits bezeichnet ein „sex jam“ laut Urban Dictionary “a song that a guy and girl will get turned on by and will cause them to soon engage in sexual actions”.
SEX JAMS beziehen ihre Einflüsse hauptsächlich aus den 80ern/ frühen 90ern, als die Gitarren noch laut waren und Indie, aus dem Punk/Hardcore geschlüpft, noch gefährlich. Das klingt mal dissonant und verlärmt wie SONIC YOUTH, auch mal atmosphärisch wie MY BLOODY VALENTINE und direkt wie PJ HARVEY, aber „Nach Heimat klingt das nie, viel mehr nach einem schönen und lauten New-New York.“ (©Kurier) Oder um es auf den Punkt zu bringen: „Während KREISKY sudern, tun SEX JAMS pudern.“ (©Vice) Im Mai 2009 haben SEX JAMS ihre erste 7“ „On our way home is nowhere“ auf FETTKAKAO herausgebracht. Im Frühjahr 2010 folgt das Debutalbum „Post Teenage Shine“ auf NOISE APPEAL zusammen mit der 7“ Singleauskopplung „Julie had a brother“ mit PILOTS. Remix auf NOISE APPEAL und FETTKAKAO.
